Front Doors

This picture of the front door is the first impression of the school, after the front gates. It is warm; welcoming area were students and visitors can get into the school. It is the main entrance of the school, and when you enter here your brain starts to function and get ready for the day that awaits you.

Crescent Benches

These benches symbolize part of my daily routine at school. They represent a place for me to rest, to reflect on the school day, to contemplate the evening ahead, to meet my friends and to wait for my ride home.

The benches are often full of knapsacks and other students. Most of the time while I wait friends walk by and join me for a chat. Then it becomes a spot where we make plans for the weekend ahead or discuss our homework or assignments coming up. It has become an informal meeting place for the Crescent brothers. From time to time a teacher will walk by you and you then have a chance to exchange a few friendly words outside of the classroom. One thing about the benches there is always activity around them.

Assignment #2 - Matthew Bloom

Assignment #1 - Picture in a Picture

In this assignment, I had to follow many steps to learn how to use Adobe Photoshop, an interesting program, were you can manipulate pictures, we were learning the basics of the software.

We had to take one picture that we thought was meaningful and symbolic to use in the procedure. I choose this picture because I thought it was very powerful, and that is why I put the boarder around the child who is holding a gun.

We changed the image in many ways; we added layers, boarders, color, and etc. to change the image into the final product.

Front Doors of Upper School

This is a picture of the Crescent School front doors. Apart from being the entrance and exit to Crescent School they perform a very important role.

When you walk in the entrance you are opening the doors to a rich academic environment steeped in tradition. It is an atmosphere providing students with the opportunity to excel. Not only does the school have an expectation of your performance but more importantly you establish one for yourself. In fact, when you step into the school, you have just walked through the doors of knowledge where you open your mind to accept and to challenge your daily learning. At the end of the day when you walk out of the same Crescent doors you are stepping into the freedom of the outside world but you are now refreshed with the knowledge you have gained at school.

Crest and Motto

This picture is of the Crescent emblem, this is my schools, crest and moto. This represents a lot for me, because I go to Crescent School, and wear the patch on my blazer everyday.

I wear and represent our crest and motto with pride, and strive to be “Men of Character from Boys of Promise”, the mission of Crescent. This saying keeps me in line and adjusted to the proper manners and adequate used in everyday life.

This symbol has a deep meaning; it teaches me to learn the core values of Life and Crescent School, respect, responsibility, honesty and compassion. I will think and remember these four key words as I move on and endeavor in life.

There is also another meaning in this picture and it the Crescent motto, which is “Veritate Stamus Et Crescimus” this means in English, “In Truth We Stand And Grow”. This saying has a very deep meaning, and I think it portrays Crescent in a compelling way. This quote helps me learn and grow into a better person; then I am today.

This picture means a lot, you just have to think out of the box and find the deeper meaning.
